DEPLOYING AS FIRST RESPONDERS TO HAITI FOLLOWING A 7.2-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE
On Saturday, August 14th, 2021 a massive 7.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Port-au-Prince, Haiti and the surrouding cities.
This comes 11 years after their last major earthquake that clocked in at 7.0-magnitude. The country was still recovering from the effects of that previous natural disaster.
Our partners at Aerial Recovery Group deployed on Monday, August 16th to be some of the first responders on the ground. Their mission was to assess the damage to relay the most urgent needs to the organizations and people that could help.
Almost immediately after landing on the ground, the team found the situation as urgent with the biggest needs being medical care and basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter.
As of Monday, over 1,200 people had been found dead with hundreds more still trapped in the rubble. As tropical storm Grace approached, the team acted quickly to provide emergency medical care and establish temporary shelter for the affected and displaced Haitians.
We are raising funds to help facilitate providing the emergency relief supplies that are needed at this time: canned goods, shelter items, water, hygiene items, and PPE. Our partners at Global Empowerment Mission will help deliver the supplies through their Miami warehouse down to Haiti.
